Okay, so the Smart ForTwo you see above isn't actually made of chocolate, it just looks that way. Specially prepared for the holiday by designer Tadaaki Wakamutsu of Japanese luxury jeweler/chocolatier Q-Pot, the unique Smart city car features a special chocolate-themed paint scheme. It's priced at 2.36 million yen (equivalent to about $28k), which places it at a considerable premium over the standard Smart ForTwo's 1.84 million yen MSRP ($22k) in Japan. Steve Wallace to Make Sprint Cup Debut in Daytona 500

Nationwide regular Steve Wallace, 23, will make his Sprint Cup debut in the 53rd running of the Daytona 500 driving a Toyota Camry fielded by his famous father, Rusty, the family team announced Wednesday.

Steve Wallace will become the fourth Wallace to run in the annual NASCAR classic, joining his father and uncles Mike and Kenny.

A regular in the Nationwide series since 2007 with Rusty Wallace Racing, Steve Wallace will drive the No. 77 RWR Toyota Camry in the Feb. 20 race with backing from longtime sponsor 5-Hour Energy and new partner Aspen Dental.

Wallace has a guaranteed starting spot in the 43-car field because his father's longtime car owner, Roger Penske, has a spot earned from Sam Hornish, Jr's 2010 full-season campaign in Penske's No. 77 Dodge. Penske does not have a Cup ride for Hornish in 2011.

"Starting my first Daytona 500 is definitely going to be the most exciting day of my career -- make that my life -- so far," Wallace said in a post at rustywallace.com. "It's something that every kid wanting to be a racer -- including me -- dreams of doing one day.

Budget deadline still looms for teams

Uncertainty over whether any Formula 1 teams did overspend last year will remain until at least early March, Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali believes, with the final deadline to submit budgets still several weeks away. The last few weeks have been full of speculation that some outfits - including world champions Red Bull Racing - may have overspent in 2010 and therefore breached the terms of the Resource Restriction Agreement (RRA). Orange County Choppers facing foreclosure?

Drama. It's what the television show American Chopper has always been built upon, much more so than any of its so-called 'theme bikes.' And drama is exactly what's been unfolding over the last few years as both Orange County Choppers and its hit TV show have undergone a number of important changes... not the least of which is the disintegration of family relations between the show's three stars, Paul Teutul Sr., Paul Jr. and Mikey, leading to two rival custom motorcycle shops.

The latest bit of tension is reportedly between Paul Sr. and GE Capital, the bank though which the company's massive corporate headquarters in New York is financed. According to reports, the elder Teutul has missed two large payments on the building, one for $96,400 and another for $14,000, not because he or the company doesn't have the funds, but due to a disagreement in the current valuation of the building.

As anyone who's had the displeasure of dealing with such ramifications of the recently collapsing values of real estate here in the United States can tell you, OCC's HQ likely is worth less now than when it was built, but that doesn't mean payments on the loan (in this case, there are two loans, one for $11.5 million and another for $1.5 million) can be stopped.

Not surprisingly, GE Capital reportedly filed a foreclosure action against Orange County Choppers late in 2010.

Richard Childress Reflects on Dale Earnhardt, Predicts an RCR Title

WELCOME, N.C. -- Richard Childress knew the questions were coming. But that didn't make it any easier.

On Feb. 18, it will have been 10 years since his best friend, seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt, was killed in the last corner of the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.

Earnhardt drove Childress' black No. 3 Chevy to six of his titles and most of his glory. But more than that, the two were like brothers -- best friends, hunting buddies, business partners.

So even before the NASCAR media descended upon the Richard Childress Racing headquarters about an hour north of Charlotte on this rainy, cold Tuesday afternoon, Childress had prepared himself for the inevitable questions as the sport solemnly marks 10 years since it lost its greatest star and Childress lost his greatest friend.

"I'm not dreading it, so to speak, but I know there's going to be a lot of questions that I know deserve answers and some of the answers I'm the only person that can give,'' Childress said during a nearly hour-long interview on NASCAR's annual preseason media tour.

"It (the accident) almost seems like yesterday because you're always still remembering and thinking of what's happened since that time. Ten years, it just doesn't seem like it.''

Victory Motorcycles High Ball is a blacked-out menace

It looks like Harley-Davidson isn't the only bike company dabbling in the dark arts these days. Victory Motorcycles has pulled the sheets off of its new High-Ball at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in New York. The bike looks like it's been upended and dipped in a vat of matte black paint with just a few exceptions. The tank wears a flat-white cove with matching wide whitewall tires. At the heart of this machine is the company's 97-horsepower 106/6 Stage 2 V-twin that cranks out 113 pound-feet of torque.

If you're looking at those ape hangars with the jaundiced eye of practicality, fear not. Victory says that the bars can be adjusted to stand straight up and down or folded back for a more comfortable riding experience. If you're looking to buy your way into the rat rod scene, there are worse ways to do it. The High-Ball carries a price tag of $13,499.

FIA announces academy shortlist

The FIA has announced the shortlist of 19 drivers who will compete for places in its new Young Driver Excellence Academy. Ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz and 2001 World Rally champion co-driver Robert Reid are heading up the Academy training programme, which aims to give unprecedented support to rising young talents. A three-day shootout will be held to decide the 10 drivers who will be part of the inaugural scheme, with the candidates to be assessed on "fitness and performance, media techniques, teamwork and psychology." We're surrounded by mighty American Muscle here at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. Faintly in the background, behind the roar of massive V8s and flashy paintjobs, sits a cup of tea amidst a sea of Budweiser. A 1952 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn Mercia Special Roadster is patiently waiting to cross the auction block.. and it looks nervous.

In storage for 33 years, this two-passenger convertible may be a blast to the past but it also features a few modern amenities such as a power-adjustable driver's seat and fiberglass mats in the wheel wheels to prevent chipping.

Originally the car had just 17,000 miles on the odometer. After being completely restored in 2010 it has added just 50 more. We're not quite sure how the muscle car-happy crowd will react to this fine example of British open-top motoring.

2010 Team Reviews: JGR Inches Closer to Title

As easily the most staunch threat to unseat Jimmie Johnson and Co. from their record-setting run through the previous four seasons, Joe Gibbs Racing takes second spot in our review of the top teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from 2010.

Denny Hamlin (above) delivered the last, best threat to Johnson's run to five consecutive championships at Homestead in November by holding a narrow points lead on the No. 48 before the season finale. However, a risky decision early in the race left Hamlin spinning and scrambling while Johnson cruised to his fifth.

It was a storyline we've seen before from the JGR camp -- most notably in Kyle Busch's 2008 Chase implosion.

Labeling the 2010 season a failure for JGR with one gaffe in one race, however, isn't fair to the otherwise notable successes the team saw during the campaign. Here's a look back, and the reasoning why, JGR was the second-best NASCAR organization in 2010.

Lotus Type 125 makes its track debut

Lotus has taken the time to put its new civilian Formula One racer through its paces. The company enlisted the help of both Jean Alesi and James Rossiter to test the Exos Type 125 in its first official track outing. Rossiter serves as the company's official test driver, so he's been in the seat of some pretty wild machines. Even so, the racer says that the Type 125 is "unique, intense and extremely raw." On top of that, Rossiter claims the open-wheel beast is as close as a mortal human can get to man-handling the tiller of a genuine F1 car.

There's no surprise there. The Type 125 packs a 3.5-liter Cosworth V8 at its core with 650 horsepower. The miracle mill is strapped to a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox, and Lotus says that all it takes to wake the beast is a push of the start button. That means that owners won't require their own personal squad of mechanics just to get out of the paddock. If you like the sound of this machine as much as we do, you better know someone at Lotus. The company is only planning on handing out 15 examples of the Type 125. Hit the jump for the press release.
